So the dealer didnât tell you cost of replacement parts was high? That info is at the consumerâs fingertips. If it is a deal breaker then perhaps the consumer really canât afford electronic shifting and should avoid it. There is a hierarchy amongst groupsets – the top end ones cost more to buy and thus more to get replacement parts for. Shock horror.
SH-52 – if you can get them. Harder release than the SH-51 and only supposed to be used with the M858 pedals, but I’ve been using them with M324 and M540 without any problems.
I hope there is a solution. I don’t have a problem with the expense but I have not found the info. on the Shimano web site that says it will work. I have seen the XTR Di2 derailleurs but I couldn’t find the information that said Di2 road shifters would work a triple and the info seems to restrict the front derailleur to 40T. What size is your largest chainring?
If you’ve got the money or if you find an awesome sale (which I did), try the DMR Vault Magnesium Superlights. Mg body and Ti spindle make for 290 gram pedals (that’s for the pair). They have a large platform and amazing grip, so they definitely work for big downhills. The only drawback is they have a 85 kg (188 lb) rider’s weight limit. So they don’t work for bigger riders. Plus, DMR’s quality control has been poor on these, so you may have to rebuild them once to get them right. There are also some nice nylon pedals out there. RaceFace Chesters (340g) and Black Ops (375g) are nice light weight options that are durable and don’t lose their color over time. I think many of the colors with the nylons look kind of cheezy, but the solid black looks great from beginning to end imo. Plus, they are not expensive and perform very well. If you like black colored pedals, I don’t there is any better option for the price than the nylons. Plus you won’t have to hear that terrible “ching” when your pedal strikes a rock.
Joining the Deore XT SPD pedals, the XT flat pedals are pitched at the trail, enduro and e-MTB markets. This is a bit of a shift for the Japanese brand, which up until now has only marketed flat pedals for BMX and DH racing. As more everyday trail riders look to pedal with flats rather than clips however, Shimano has sought to expand its range of flat pedals and shoes accordingly.
He said he was confused by the Valley Metro trip instructions, so he ended up taking an Uber to the wrong starting point, and then had to take another one to where the bus would pick him up. He blamed this on Valley Metro, but let’s be honest, Mendoza.
There isn’t a triple option for EPS. In fact I don’t think there’s a triple option for any e-shifting system.
Mavic now sells wheel ‘systems’. If you buy a set of their wheels, they come equipped with matching tyres. It makes the shopping experience that much easier (pick some wheels, don’t worry about tyres) and, because Mavic puts as much effort into the tyres as the rest, the results are consistently good across such diverse disciplines as road, gravel and MTB. UST (Universal System Tubeless) is Mavic’s label for tubeless, both on road and off. The mountain bike side of UST has been around for many years, but the road versions are new.
"Nobody wants to get stuck with product that is no longer viable," said Jason Kilroy at Ciclista-America, the distributor of Sidi shoes in the U.S. Although Sidi doesn’t make BMX-specific shoe models, it does make its mountain bike shoes available in small sizes that are used by many BMXers. Kilroy said it is a very small part of the company’s business.
Clearly you’re triggered by my positive reaction and descended into some maddened state ranting about damascene, puns and post-purchase-rationalisations.Â
The best ‘feeling’ pedal is admittedly a difficult thing to quantify. Some riders prefer a snappy mechanism that keeps them securely locked into the pedal, while others prefer a softer and lighter feel for clipping in and out.
