At the 2018 Eurobike expo, Chromag released their new Dagga DH pedals. The Dagga is their largest platform and widest stance offering, giving riders plenty of space to modulate their footing across the 24 height-adjustable traction pins. Pedal thickness is 14.3mm at the center, with sealed bearings (outer) and a bushing (inner) wrapped around a robust Chromoly axle. Designed with the help of Australian DH racer Chris Kovarik, the pedal’s main features will shine bright under the high impact-conditions of true DH.

You can get a basic pair of clipless pedals for less than£50 – and they’ll do the job. Spend more, and the mechanism will be fine tuned, giving a stronger grip in the cleat – which will be a welcome improvement for racers, but beginners might actually want a little more float.

None of this is to say there isn’t a time and a place for listening to music out loud on your bike. For example, if you ride around the city with a speaker on your bike, you’re part a noble tradition of kooks going back at least as far as the days of carrying a boombox while roller skating. Also, the entire soundscape in the city consists of human-generated noise so all you’re doing is adding to its texture. Anyway, you’ll never be able to complete with the sheer obnoxiousness of a driver having a loud conversation about their colonoscopy results on their hands-free car audio system, so it’s not like you’re actually annoying anybody.
The contact patch is smaller than that available on road specific pedals, offering a little less power transfer – but some roadies do enjoy the simplicity.
Granted, Ultegra Di2 shifters are slightly cheaper than the mechanical ones (£289.98 versus 319.99), but that’s unusual.
Disagree with the Speedplay comments above. I moved to them this year and yes IÂ hated them for a few weeks and was considering eBaying them.
I think If you have lights front and rear and clothing with some refelctive trim you are extremely unlikely to be stopped for not having reflective pedals, even though they are a legal requirement technically.
